The Maine MultiCultural Center (MMCC) connects immigrants, refugees, and other New Mainers with the resources, opportunities, and relationships they need to thrive in Maine.
You can help make this possible. Whether you have time to volunteer, want to make a donation, or are simply interested in learning more about our work, we would love to hear from you.

1. Volunteer With MMCC
Our volunteers help New Mainers navigate everyday life, access essential services, and feel at home in their new community. There are many ways to contribute, depending on your interests, skills, and availability.
Volunteers may help with:
- Transportation: Driving people to appointments, interviews, schools, and other essential destinations.
- Moving and household setup: Helping families move and furnishing their homes.
- Family support: Helping people navigate local services and community resources.
- Language and learning: Providing language support or practicing conversational English.
- Donations and events: Organizing donated items, supporting community events, and helping with outreach.
You don't need to have experience in every area. We'll work with you to explore opportunities that fit your interests and availability.

2. Donate to Support Our Work
Your financial contribution helps MMCC connect families with essential resources and opportunities. Donations support programs such as housing assistance, English classes, transportation, and other direct services.
Every contribution helps us respond to community needs and build a more welcoming Greater Bangor.
Make a Donation
Donate Furniture, Housewares, and Winter Gear
MMCC also accepts in-kind donations, especially furniture, household goods, and winter gear to help New Mainers establish their homes and prepare for Maine winters.
Because we have limited storage space and our needs change, please contact us before bringing or delivering any items. We can confirm whether we currently need and have space for your donation and arrange a drop-off if appropriate.

Other Ways to Get Involved
Volunteering and donating are the two main ways to support MMCC, but there are other meaningful ways to contribute.
- Become a community partner. Share resources, professional expertise, services, or employment and educational opportunities with the people we serve.
- Attend an event. Join us at community gatherings, educational activities, and other events that bring people together. Visit our Events page.
- Join a committee. Contribute your skills and ideas to help advance MMCC's mission. Contact us to learn about current opportunities.
- Spread the word. Tell friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors about MMCC and help others learn how they can support New Mainers. Share our Flyer or Poster in your community.
- Explore board service. If you are interested in helping guide the organization's future, contact us to learn more about board opportunities.
